Bokrijk Arboretum
The domain of Bokrijk is 550 ha and managed by the Province of Limburg. The arboretum comprises 18 ha and was established at the beginning of 1965. It was initially designed as a systematic collection, but in 1985 it was transformed into a landscaped garden with a mixture of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. ![]() ![]() ![]() The arboretum specialises in Holly (Ilex species), having the largest reference collection of this genus in Europe. This resulted in it becoming an official Holly trial garden affiliated with the American Holly Society. The arboretum is also home to the Belgium's Bamboo collection. Other landscaped areas of interest include wetland, woodland (under construction), fern and Mediterranean gardens. Separate from the arboretum, in another part of the domain, is an herb and vegetable area and a historical fruit orchard. ![]() B-3600 BOKRIJK Tel +32 (0)11 26 53 61 / +32 (0)11 26 53 62 Fax +32 (0)11 26 53 60 Curators: Jef Van Meulder Frank Libens www.bokrijk.be |
